Jazz Tunes

These are 3 tunes that were written in the same time period. The chord structure for each tune was based on 3 popular tunes with a new melody added with some changes to the existing chord structure. As part of a jazz tradition where new melodies were added to a popular tune. The many jazz tunes based “rhythm changes” are based on the popular show tune called “I’ve got rhythm”. If you can guess which tunes were the foundation of any of these tunes, let me know. This is a very usable exercise for any student of music and music composition. Try it.
